Submission Guidelines for Boston Emissions, effective 1/1/09
Boston Emissions’ focus is to support independent bands and artists of varying rock styles
from Boston and New England. The show gets a lot of cds that comprise tall stacks and full
bins of which some are great, some okay, some half-assed, and a number of them not ready
for air*.
If you are good, if your disc sounds decent, if I like your band, you will eventually
get played. I may extend an invitation to have you come on the show - I will contact you.
It is safe to say that if I have not played your record, you will not be invited as a guest at
this time. That does not mean that you will never be invited. Please be patient.
I will do my best to respond to emails in a timely fashion. Please be respectful of my time
as I will be of yours.
Here are some basic requests for submitting music and getting airplay on Boston Emissions…
Please DO:
- *invest in a decent recording. Audio quality is very important.
- send unwrapped, non-mp3 CD with proper track listing in a clearly identifiable full-size
jewel case. Make it as easy as possible for me to get to the music and identify it or I have
to move on.
-include some band info (one sheets only, save the press kit, save a tree).
- include direct band contact info (no offense but I’m about the bands, not the managers so much).
-suggest tracks. Star ’em, check ‘em, whatever you have to do. Identify a “single” if you like.
-tell me what songs are clean (kick ass songs laced with shit and fuck equals no dice)!
Edits are great and your cred remains intact.
- send show listings via email to anngelle@wbcn.com with band name, venue and date listed in subject.
Please DO NOT:
-email asking to be in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble. Ever. A band must first get airplay to be
considered. I’ll take it from there.
-send live recordings. It’s not likely I will play them. Audio quality is often questionable.
-email mp3s or large files. My email is overwhelmed.
-send me to your web page or myspace page to listen to your music. If you want me to listen
to your music just send it.
-send emails hounding me for something. Harassment gets you no where.
-come to the radio station during the show. Uninvited guests will not get in.
